Good, muscular rod, without all the power in just the tip. I'm using a line size down and it still lets me feel the line.

This is a nice little rod and reel combo that is ready to go. I took it out on the water the other day and it performed very nicely. I caught four fish and the action was really fun, the casting is close range. It is small and I like creek fishing and places where the brambles rule. If you are looking to get started then this is a good set up. It would be particularly nice for a 10 year old if you were going on a week long fishing trip. I don't imagine it requiring much attention. I like the carrying case. I undid the rod, left it loaded and put it in the case and walked through the woods unencumbered. It would be nice if the strap was longer. All said, very nice and with some smart deal flyer tactics, a good price for the length and weight.

Took this rod out for the first time the other day and was impressed. Throwing musky flies (8+ inches) all day was no problem, even when the wind kicked up. Great deal for a rod with the backbone.
