I expected them to be a bit thicker, but they are perfect for NC. For colder climates they may be thin.

My daughter went ice skating in these pants and they were perfect! She stayed warm and dry, and the pants didn't restrict her movements at all -- and they have a fun pattern on the underside of the cuffs that show when you roll them up. And even though she fell alot and I was worried about the knees tearing apart, a later survey showed no wear or damage at all! Now it's raining on our snow and these pants kept her completely dry and warm during hours of sledding fun. I'm very happy!
