Reviewed by Not Johnny the Hiker from New York on Sunday, February 2, 2014Pros: Coat is warm, and amazingly full featured, pockets in the right places, wrist gaiters with thumbholes, attached goggle wiping cloth, attached ring that clips off, great detachable, non-detachable powder skirt, looks great for both skiing and everyday wear
Cons: I think its designed for someone slightly taller than i am, I'm 5'10 and the coat is just a little long, with the coat coming a little to far down on the hips, which restricts movement a little bit, also puts the elastic of the powder skirt too far down which makes the tightness around the legs worse. For those that care the lining of the coat is very, very, loud, and a little ugly.
Overall I really love the coat, I bought it for everyday winter wear, and it works great for that purpose, skiing maybe not, as the length would restrict leg movement - which is sad, and would have been easily fixed with a double zipper, again great coat, but maybe for someone taller - oh I bought a L, and am 5'10" with a 42"chest and 34" waist.
Also can't say enough about Sierra Trading Post, fantastic company, and amazing return policy and sales.
Reviewed by Dan the Biker from Connecticut on Monday, January 27, 2014If I had to have a new jacket on the day it was delivered I would have kept it. It would have kept me warm and left me plenty of room to move. But it wasn't great, so I sent it back. The material was a little stiff and the cut was kind of boxy. The left arm has some funny little pockets that I would never use. I'm a medium in most everything. The medium was the correct fit if I was wearing a sweater. I usually ski with only a light shirt and the medium felt like a medium-large.
Reviewed by Yasha from Chicago on Thursday, January 23, 2014The jacket seems to be a good quality and has a style. But the liner is the most weird thing I have ever seen on any clothes.
It looks like a shirt from 70s. With strange patterns and colors. All these pink, silver an white just don't go together with a black jacket.
Reviewed by JPinCT from Connecticut on Thursday, January 23, 2014They don't show it in the picture, but the liner (hood and jacket) is a horrific pattern and color, but that aside its an incredible coat. I have a number of North Face coats, but wanted a one-piece parka vs a layer (zip-in) system and this may be one of the warmest coats I own. Excellent wrist gaiters, plenty of pockets and storage webbing. I am not a big fan of hoods, this one is removable, but its a good fitting hood when it is on. Its been in the single digits here in CT with wind chills below 0 and this has immediately become part of my snow-blowing gear.
Reviewed by Mountain Mike from Bellingham Ma on Wednesday, January 22, 2014It's still new to me, so I havent found many bugs in it other than the liner is pretty ugly, its almost as ugly as the inside of a raincoat.
