I ordered these in conjunction with Rottefella NIS T4 Touring bindings. The NIS binding plates allow very easy installation of the bindings to the skis, no taking them to a shop for mounting.

The skis were a little slower on the downhill than I was expecting, which is actually okay. As I don't ski on groomed trails, just backcountry / snowmobile trail or bush whacking, even a moderate hill can be terrifying with the lack of metal edges making control a challenge. So being that these skis have a very light wood grain-esque pattern on the skis in addition to the grippy fish scales, they end up running a little slower than smoother skis.

They do grip very effectively on the uphill ascent however, so you're compromising a little downhill speed for a little better uphill gription. They're narrow too, probably about 1.5" or so, so they're going to struggle a little breaking trail, or in very deep snow, though I do know these skis weren't really designed for that. I grew up in a cheap family, so we used x-country skate-style skis for everything (except downhill, of course), so I knew what I was getting into buying these for my current trail skiing. I did buy the longest available (208cm), but they're too narrow to be adept at breaking trail.

All in all, these skis are great for a beginner due to the speed issue, and the binding install is super easy thanks to the NIS plate.
