4.0 out of 5 stars. Good shorts. Great price.Verified Buyer Reviewed by Twin Dad from Colorado on Saturday, June 3, 2017What I like:
Nice heavy canvas.
Color not quite as pictured - the pic has white contrast stitching which I was willing to put up with for the price, but the actual shorts don't. So ... better than pictured, for me anyway. And the color is a few shades darker - more like a slate blue/grey
Pockets are HUGE.
Neutral:
It's a two-step fly with a button flap and then a snap closure at the waist.
What I'm not keen on: The pockets are HUGE. That sounds good, except - I like to put my wallet in my back pocket, In most jeans and shorts, that means it sits in about the same place. On these shorts, it's down on the back of my thigh and that feels ... weird. Generally having big heavy stuff in the pockets - which you CAN do - is not advisable because they weigh the shorts down. -
5.0 out of 5 stars. Love these shortsVerified Buyer Reviewed by Anonymous from AZ on Tuesday, May 30, 2017Had a pair of this design a few years ago and wore them a lot. I am not a couch potato and am hard on clothing and did manage to put some rips in my shorts which was my fault not any flaw in the shorts . Very happy to see they still offer this design and the quality is still super. Great shorts, plenty of pocket space and I find them to be very comfortable. I will pick up another pair in the near future and be set for the next 5 years.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Well madeVerified Buyer Reviewed by Anonymous from Massachusetts on Sunday, May 28, 2017I bought these shorts for my husband. He liked them so much he ordered 2 additional pairs. They run true to size and didn't shrink when washed. They only came in one color but he didn't care because they were so comfortable.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Perfect fitVerified Buyer Reviewed by BadStud from Umpqua, Oregon on Tuesday, May 23, 2017Sturdy pair of shorts, taken for a day long rowing trip, lounged around the couch, gone for the 3 mile hike without any complaints.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Perfect LengthVerified Buyer Reviewed by Show Me Mike from Missouri on Sunday, March 19, 2017I do not like shorts to be at or below my knees and these shorts accomplish that. They are definitely a heavyweight pair of shorts and will probably wear like iron, but are comfortable.

4.0 out of 5 stars. A Little DifferentVerified Buyer Reviewed by Mountainlab from North Carolina on Wednesday, May 13, 2015I agree with others that the fabric has changed. The construction appears to be the same but with lesser quality yarns. It was a really great fabric, somewhat less so now. With that said it is not really terrible but not what it was. It is unfortunate that manufacturers feel a need to take cost out of a really fine product rather than up the price a little.
One note; the blue in the picture on line is not a good representation of the actual shade. -
3.0 out of 5 stars. Wrong Product SentVerified Buyer Reviewed by Anonymous from Palm Harbor, Florida on Monday, April 27, 2015The shorts ordered were Royal Robbins Blue Water. The shorts received were Royal Robbins Billy Goat. There is a slight difference in the basic style. I am very familiar with these shorts as I have been wearing them for many years. I did not try to return them, as I am presently travelling and that option was not convenient. In the end I am willing to keep them, but it may be in your best interest to better check your orders prior to shipping.

3.0 out of 5 stars. Don't know yet.Verified Buyer Reviewed by Me from MS on Monday, November 24, 2014Fit and design is exactly what I look for in shorts (i.e. shorter inseam at 6" and functional pockets, etc.). Material is really stiff though, which the description "heavy-duty, thick-yarn cotton canvas" did lead me to think might be the case. I am hoping time and several washes will loosen them up. I don't mind thick and durable as long as I don't feel like I am wearing cardboard.
