It's very warm, but it offers no resistance to the wind. It also just feels kind of stiff and bulky, and not very soft. It's not practical to bring this backpacking. If you just want to jump on the North Face bandwagon, this is the cheapest way to do it. But if you're looking for something technical for hiking and backpacking, spend your money on something else.
