By SST from Vancouver, WA on 11/15/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight, Stylish Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great upgrade to your general cotton hoody. As with most ArcTeryx, it is cut pretty short in the body, especially in front. Fit is definitely athletic. Sheds water quite well for a soft shell, but then again, it is new too. Nice for cooler, fall weather just over a long-sleeved t.
By Adirondack Man from Montclair, NJ on 11/14/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Lightweight, Warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Hiking and Camping Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: In spite of the preceding comments I purchased the Trident Hoodie (hate that term--"hoodie")and am quite pleased. I'm not sure why previous commentors had problems with this jacket (e.g. not waterproof or not enough features) given the description was dead-on target. It's a minimalist mid-layer jacket with a structured hood. Awesome! That's exactly what I was looking to buy. So let me tell you a couple of things...first, if you like a little more room (I'm normally a large) order the XL (as I did)--it makes it possible to wear additional layers underneath and extend its temp range; second, if you haven't owned anything from Arc'Teryx then you're in for a treat--this jacket performs quite well and the features it boasts come through in spades. This jacket is for active people doing active things. If you're hoping to stand around in the blowing, frigid cold with wind driven rain blowing sideways hoping this jacket will protect you then you're not too bright! That's NOT what it was designed to do. This jacket is an excellent mid-layer (lightweight) for when it's really cold and you're wearing a heavier waterproof/windproof shell over it, an excellent means for protecting yourself when doing aerobic activities in cool/dry conditions and an awesome lightweight jacket around town. There you have it. Know what you're buying before you buy it and then you won't find yourself complaining about what it "doesn't" do. I am definitely recommending this to my "outdoor loving" friends.
