It's fine with something over it or under it, but on its own it's not useful. Go with an Outdoor Research hat if you need warm. It's also a bit large, probably fit a man's head much better. It's also not exactly like the colors on the screen. I bought the tan and brown one that has hardly any brown in it at all. [...] I would have returned it. If you put on this hat and find it helping, it wasn't very cold out to begin with!
