I was also looking for something considerably warmer. I can't really say how well they would work for sports like running or cycling - as I really wanted something to wear under a jacket to give more warmth to the jacket sleeves.

I've had the same pinching occur with some grips on bike shorts. The length is adequate for my long arms, I love the lime color, and the price is great-so I plan to stretch them out before use.
