By Mark from Bay Area, CA on 10/28/2009 Pros: Good blade material, Nice look, Sharp Blade Cons: Assist open stronger Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: It's true the handle is smooth and it is harder to open than others, (strong not weak in mine) and it may shift a bit in your hand but I didn't find it to be problematic. You get used to it especially if you use it all the time, it doesn't deserve one star. Also it is unlikely to cut considering the sharp edge is in the direction *opposite* to the way it opens.
a beafy, man's kind of knife. By Karl from New England on 09/13/2009 Pros: Comfortable Grip, Knife is razor sharp, Opens effortlessly, Opens Smoothly, Sharp Blade Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: if you have the slightest bit of strength in your thumb, this knife snaps open with just a nudge of the thumb stud. hold on, it SNAPS hard! the knife looks much better than is shown in the picture. it has a hefty solid feel with a good balance. CRKT has an excellent product here.
By altapowskier from Alta, UT and Albany, NY on 09/11/2009 Pros: Durable, Sharp Blade, Simple design Best Uses: Daily carry utility knife, Home, Hunting Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I really like my knife. i have very many knives, and this one fills a niche. the craftsmanship is spot on and very durable. the outburst mechanism is very simple and easy to clean and keep in working order. those who say this knife is hard to open are either extremely weak, or dont take good care of their knife. i have a kershaw assisted opener, and it is a bit easier to open, however it has opened in my pocket by accident a few times, and sliced me once real good. the crkt knife never opens by accident. a drop of oil on the tip of the spring once every so often is more than enough to keep this knife in proper working order. however, the weight of this knife is why i did not give it 5 stars. my kershaw is much lighter (plastic handle) but this crkt is bomber with the metal handle. its heavy, so i would never take it backpacking....but for daily carry at work or around the house it fits the bill perfect. i really like the broad drop point blade. i have had and have used the knife almost daily for the past 2 years and dont understand the bad reviews. besides weight, i have nothing bad to say. i am also a lefty, and the assisted opening nub is on both sides of the blade, it helps me out. i had to switch the screw and nub on my kershaw, but it still is not seamless.
