Vibram sole traction design is great.
By Willis Teoh from South Australia, Australia on 11/06/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Flexible, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Everyday, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Light Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer, Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels half size too big Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I hike and hunt in conditions that vary from very hot and rocky to wet and muddy. The boots are very well made. good looking and break in was virtually nil. Very comfortable. It would need better arch Support/insoles and that is personal. The ankle support is superb. It grips my ankle well and prevents my toe nails from "popping" out during decent. It have a very good feeling this pair should last me at least 2 seasons. It felt 1/2 size too big but with thick scocks it is ok. I'd prefer the boots to be a bit lose than tight. Will buy again.
By Dafpilot from Maine on 11/06/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Warm, Water Resistant Best Uses: Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels full size too big, Feels too large Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These are the most rugged boot I have ever used, and the most rugged I have seen in my limited experience. I purchased a pair of Alico's similar to this pair 3 years ago, and they are just now wearing out after nearly daily use.
Definately not a casual boot; these are great for serious hiking. But they are also comfortable enough to wear to work, or walking the streets.
I suggest getting your own insole to modify the arch support to your needs.
