However, they are made of very soft metal, so you have to be careful not to bend them as you install them.

It also has a little bamboo valance attached. I wanted something that would let in a lot of light during the day. If you are using it for a bedroom, you might want to use a liner. This shade is exactly 48" wide, and I think it would be very hard to make it smaller as it states in the description. We installed it on the outside of the window & have been very pleased so far.
