Really, it's just the back elastic that feels too big. I'm small in the chest area and the fit is perfect there, even flattering, so it seems to be out of proportion with the back of the dress. I'm just going to throw in a running stitch back there and enjoy the dress, I really like it.
By kara from NC on 10/08/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Nice Color Describe Yourself: Classic Dresser Comfort vs Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I ordered a small and was worried about the fit. I wear a 4 or 6 and this dress is perfect. Order a size larger if you have a large bust. The bust is snug. If the dress were 2 inches shorter it would be perfect.
This dress looks good in any dressy casual situation. I'm definitely taking it on my vacation.
By puss in boots from silicon valley, CA on 08/31/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Flattering, Nice Color Best Uses: Special Occasions Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser Comfort vs Style: Comfort Driven Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Pros : This dress is true to the picture in that it has a very flattering line, which is enhanced by the print design. It will be great to wear to the occasional outdoor concert/artshow/dinner party.
Cons : It might not hold up under more frequent or rigorous wear - eg., to something that lasts all day, requires a lot of traipsing around. Reasons for feeling this way are as follows :
1 - outer fabric is flimsy, stiff, scratchy, obviously cheap. inner lining, soft and nice, but thin. I fear what a washing would do to it.
2 - elastic smocking in back very loosely done, seems like it is already well on the road to rubber fatigue. will it even last a year ?
3 - the bra-like top offers comfortable coverage to an A or possibly a B cup, but C or bigger will have to be content with a string bikini look. Unless you want to let the bottom band ride up, which is easy to do given the weak elastic in back... bearable for an evening, but not for a long active day. The picture is misleading in this regard because there the breast coverage appears to be quite ample.
That said, this IS a pretty dress, and will be great for those breezy, informal soiree type deals where people still kinda want you to look decorative.
