Closeouts. The Ruff Wear Approach II dog pack lets your pooches carry their own food, water, toys and more on every new trail adventure. You'll be amazed how excited your furry friends get when you strap them into this comfortable dog pack.
I bought this pack to use on my Chihuahua/Min-Pin mix. She seemed to like the pack immediately and we loaded some food and other fairly light weight items into the pack. The harness fit well, but was at the limit of adjustability for the XXS size. Of course, Pepi only weighs 8 pounds, so it's not like we are loading her up with 3-4 pounds of gear. The construction materials and sewing is bomb-proof. Super heavy thread count Cordura and double and triple stitched bar tacks and seams.

A nice addition to outings, gives the dogs a job to do while walking, providing them with focus. I bought this one because I was so pleased with the one I bought last year for my other dog.

Overall, It carried everything I needed for my dog, but I think the pockets should come of so that you can use the harness part alone for hiking or long walks. The handle at the top of the backpack that allows you pick up the dog is good because it make your dog a lot easier to manage if you are out hiking.

This pack was a lifesaver when we did the Four Passes Loop in the Maroon Bells. Our red heeler packed her own stuff! The pack fit her great and it didn't shift like the larger one that our border collie was wearing. The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is because I thought that the bags could use some bungees to shrink them down so they're not so bulky. I could always hear the dogs rounding trees and rocks. Otherwise, great product and would definitely recommend it!!!

I am using this product to provide "work" for my most energetic dog. We put some items for weight in each pouch. He loves it. It is easy to put on, and the padded belts do not chafe his skin.

This pack is better than most on the market, but not as solid, verstile, or comfortable as the newer version. This older version of the Ruff Wear approach pack shows how wonderful the latest changes are. This pack has the five point harness that sets Ruff Wear packs apart and ahead of the pack, but the materials aren't as comfortable, adjustable or breathable. The material is a little shiny for my taste. I'm happy with this pack for my small 30 lb dog, but wouldn't use it on my big boy (100 pounds) who carries weight over long distances.

Have 3 Jack Russells with LOTS of energy and they love wearing the packs and it helps them get the exercise they need. They wear them on hikes in the woods or hikes in the neighborhood. They are easy to put on and they seem to be comfortable for the dogs. I have heard others complain about the cheaper ones but these are well padded and if you get the correct size I can't see you having any trouble. They are also well made. I have a couple boys that play rough and get into the dirt and they are still in great shape and have held up well.

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Great pack, Y-chest strap helps keep pack centered on narrower built dogs. Pack runs large, I use a SMALL on my 55-60 lb Brittany and it fits well. Have to be carefull when positioning the back strap with male dogs (I removed the fleece cover and it works fine, no dribbles!)
