Bought it to use for taking our hiking get poles abroad for hiking in the Alps. Since the poles can't go in our carry-on bags, this case comes in handy for taking the poles as checked luggage.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Randall from New Mexico on Thursday, November 17, 2016I have two Sage single fly rod tubes that I take to Belize for fly fishing. However, I needed a bigger tube to carry two saltwater rods down to Belize. The rods are 7' footers that break down into three parts. The tube is rectangular, so it takes a couple of practice rounds the get the right combination of fit and finesse. However, one you get the fit protocol established, it tucks in perfectly. Plus the tubes fit as a carry on and look bad [...]. I love it!
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Dino from Pa. from Pa on Monday, October 10, 2016Would have given this tube 5 stars if it only held the amount of fly rods it is advertised to hold. 3 salt fly rods at most. Bought on of each size sold and all are narrower than advertised
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Tsiu from Alaska on Monday, August 29, 2016There are many features that make this rod case a good buy.
It is sturdy, and made of light but strong aluminum. The end caps are large and the twist-off cap is easy to grip. The case is rectangular, and the end caps are a non-slip material so the case doesn't roll around. The carry strap is wide, strong, easily adjustable, and removable. I fit 5 3-piece 9-foot freshwater fly rods (weights 4-8) in the case, and I probably could have squeezed in another (to do this, half the rods are oriented with the butt sections on one end of the case, while the ends of the other rods are oriented the opposite direction).
At the STP price, I highly recommend this case.
Reviewed by Doug from Michigan on Friday, August 19, 2016Bought this for an Alaska trip. Holds 5-6 freshwater rods. Seems very solid.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by NewRiverGuideCompany from on the water on Wednesday, June 15, 2016I can put all my trout or saltwater rods into one case for a trip, and they are safe and secure! I'll probably get another one and do away with all the individual rod tubes I have for my single handed rods.
