Fits my 8 1/2 ft Rise 4 piece with the new Sage 1850 reel perfectly. Strong cordura on the outside. Great for taking to and from the water.

Verified Buyer Reviewed by moosaki from WV/MD/VA/PA on Tuesday, June 24, 2014The cases are strong, the reel pocket well padded and they have a small side pocket that zips. I have four of these for grab and go fishing. I leave the reels attached and in their pouches with ease of fit. I put leaders in the side pocket. I have found they will take a 4 piece rod 6" longer than their typical stated size.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Anonymous from Ar on Monday, June 9, 2014Got case to fit 8ft 4piece fly rod but itis big enough to take 9ft rod! And cant beat price or service from Sierra.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by moosaki from WV/MD/PA on Thursday, May 15, 2014I have 4 of these now. Be sure it is the proper size. I keep my gear in these for quick access. The tube is plenty rigid to protect the rod and the case is padded. Easy for carry on or if you have to check it in baggage. This was has a zipping side pocket for small accessories. It is well made.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by ALA from FAYETTEVILLE, NC on Thursday, May 1, 2014THIS CASE IS VERY WELL MADE AND HAS THE SECTIONS FOR EACH SECTION OF THE ROD, SO THAT THEY ARE NOT FLOATING AROUND IN THE CASE. I PLAN TO ORDER SEVERAL MORE TO LABEL AND STORE ALL OF MY FLY ROD AND REELS IN .
Answer They're talking about the size of your rod. The case itself is pretty compact.
Answer That's the size of the rod that will fit in the case. I have this case and it fits my 8.5 4 piece fly rod perfectly with reel attached. Hope this helps.
Answer It is the size of the rod.
I have two of the cases that I place in a "beneath the seat" hatch on a bonefish skiff
to avoid clutter in the rod tubes. They both hold short 4 piece bass rods: one 7'10"
and the other 8'3" with the reels attached. Safe and not needing to be cleaned if never
used. The inside of the case is black, and it is a little difficult to put the rod away in low
levels of light (could be my vision too?). There are individual compartments and it
seems best to put the tip section in first, in the rear... with the rod butt and reel placed
last in the lowest compartment. The case also stores nicely in the back hatch of a station
wagon for those opportune side of the road opportunities.
