I learned about the Salewa brand through Backpacker magazine. I am glad I remembered their name. These boots are fantastic. I normally hate boots/shoes that cover my ankles - not these. They are lightweight and very comfortable. They are definitely waterproof -I fully landed in a creek today and my feet stayed dry. Admittedly some water got through the top snow protector, but that is to be expected. They do have a smaller shaped toe, so I was comfortable with lightweight ski socks. I also read that these tend to have a narrow heel - apparently I have a narrow heel because they fit and move with my foot perfectly. Snow stays out. They are decent on ice and great in mud. I wear a 9 and bought a 0. One of my best Sierra Trading Post buys!

Liked the boot for the quality, fit and a decent weight. Unfortunately, had to return because the largest size available wasn't big enough to fit in a Smartwool Superfeet and an extra pair of thick socks... The boot original insole couldn't be replaced as it has a special heat-reflecting surface.

These Salewa Snow Trainers are really impressive boots. I had never heard of this brand, but online reviews were great. They are very comfortable and surprisingly lightweight. The are heavily lugged and the gaiter at the ankle is a nice touch. I bought these for hiking in the snow and ice and for snowshoeing. On first use, it seemed that there was a bit a cold spot in the toe area starting out, even with thick wool socks, but that quickly went away as I started moving. I often have trouble with mid height hiking boots being too tight in the ankle area and causing discomfort, but these were supportive and comfortable.

I had to say goodbye to my old snowshoe boots. (yes I am one who has boots for every activity!) I was afraid to begin all over again (like dating). I knew what I wanted and these boots did not disappoint. (unlike many first dates) First time out I was ready for the break in period...blisters....tight toe box... heel sliding up and down... NONE of this occurred!!!! I have been snowshoeing everyday anywhere up to 2 hrs. Feet are warm but not HOT...I have told all my friends about them. I am welling to share since i have mine. let them deal with "almost gone" on their own.

I hike dogs for a living and have a pair of salewa firetail gore-tex shoes that I absolutely love. Thus, when I needed some quality insulated boots for work for winter hiking, and saw these on Sierra, I immediately purchased them. They are amazing! I wasn't in love with the color to begin with, but they definitely look better in person! More importantly, they fit wonderfully, and are unbelievably comfortable! I have a wider foot, and have found that the salewa lacing system widens out to fit my feet perfectly. They are true to size, I wear a women's 8.5 and they fit just right with a medium weight merino wool hiking sock. I would definitely recommend this boot, and other salewa products, they've become my favorite hiking shoe brand!
