5.0 out of 5 stars. Fantastic Jacket, of Highest Quality Materials and Craftsmanship
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Villyh from Verona NJ on Thursday, April 17, 2014
This is easily one of the best jackets one can purchase, and certainly the best one at STP's price. The material treads somewhere between soft and hard shell, truly technical. Design is clean yet unique and very appealing to the eye, fully waterproof. The length is a tad longer than regular ski jacket, but not as long as snowboard or freestyle, and it is not baggy at all. I love it, if you consider purchasing it go for it, won't regret it.

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. GREAT LOOKING JACKET
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Living the Dream from COLORADO on Sunday, January 4, 2015
this is a few inches longer than my other ski jackets. this is great for coverage and keeping snow out. however, is restricting when bending over to buckle your boots. waterproofing is excellent when tested in a blizzard while skiing Vail. good pockets easily accessible. like the sleeve pocket to put your ski pass in and scans easily at the lift. like the thumb sleeves. hood is good albeit a bit snug with a helmet. this is a shell which provides great protection but not warmth of an insulated jacket. so it works well as designed. i am 5'10'' and 170lbs and the L fits perfectly.
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. A slight sizing challenge, but love it otherwise!

First and foremost, I love the look! It's very sharp looking and classy (and expensive looking). And the workmanship seems fantastic. As one other reviewer said, the shell is between soft and hard, closer to hard, and the lining is thinner than I expected, but if it keeps me warm, thinner and lighter weight materials are better. I just got it from STP this week, so I haven't used it in cold or wet weather yet, but if it is indeed waterproof and breathable, and if it keeps me warm, I'll probably overlook the one or two minor criticisms and go back and update my review to 5 stars. It has tons of pockets, which I love in any coat. The zippers are excellent. And I actually love the blue plaid lining. In fact, I wish the blue flannel lining was also in the hood. It's my first winter/ski coat with wrist gaitors, so the jury is still out on those, but I'm guessing I'll like that feature. And the length is definitely longer than I'm used to, and perhaps longer than I would prefer, but I will likely get used to that. Other than the length of the jacket and wishing the hood liner was blue flannel to match the neck, my only criticism is the waist size. I'm 6'2" and 238 lbs, and the XL fits well for chest, arm girth and length, stomach area, and neck, but the waist (which is NOT flexible) barely allows me to zip the front zipper because it's so tight around my hips. I'm a big guy, but I'm not that big, so if you're a bit wider, you may want to consider another style or size XXL. Otherwise, I'm very pleased with my purchase, especially at the sale price, and I would (other than the potential waist size issue for some) definitely recommend this jacket!
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Nice Athletic Fit!

Bottom Line: I'm 6'1" / 160 lbs / 35" shirt sleeve / Slim build - For my frame and taste, this coat in a Medium fits great! It is has a more tailored / athletic cut - not relaxed. Plenty of room, though, for movement but I've not tried layering yet. Look closely at the neck trim - which is very comfortable. It is a blue Plaid design that shows when the collar is down, which is fine, but you need to be okay with Plaid!!! Awesome coat.

About Salomon

The legendary Salomon outdoor equipment company was founded more than 60 years ago in the French Alps by Francois Salomon. After developing the world’s first self-releasing ski binging in 1966, the company continued to grow and innovate new products. By the early 1990s, the brand had taken the wintersports market by storm with Salomon skis made using cap construction, a totally new innovation at the time. Salmon boots quickly became famous for their balance of performance and comfort on the slopes. By the turn of the century, Salomon snowboards were helping athletes push themselves in the park and powder. Today, Salomon continues to be an industry leader, with products that range from skis and snowboards to hiking boots and trail running shoes.
