I already own a pair of these boots and was excited to find them on Sierra. I realized after receiving them in the mail that there was somethings about them I would like to improve upon. The mid height is sufficient for all seasons as I wore them through the snow season with no issues. The problem arises in the summer as the low height tends to gape around my ankle and collect rocks sticks and dirt etc. I need to wear summer gators with them. The next model up would solve the problem with the extra height and eyelet though my size was not available. The other concern I have is also related to the height in that I can't seem to secure my heal into this boot well enough on the descent. Lacing techniques have helped but 3 toenails later I am realizing that a minor concern becomes huge, even if it only becomes a problem after about 15 miles. Hikes and snow snowshoe adventures with gators don't seem to cause any concern with my feet up until about 12 miles. I will pursue the model with the higher ankle. Happy trails!

I absolutely love these! I need a wide toe box, these have them. I need sturdy ankle support for rough terrain, these provide. I need good grip for wet and/or rocky and mountainous ground, these fit the bill! Waterproof for wet weather and stream crossing. Great arch and all over support. I tend to have a hard time finding a good hiker. These are keepers!

I work outside every day walking through wet grass, puddles, snow, etc. These boots have done great, no break-in period needed! They are true to size and are lightweight. I am very happy with this purchase.

...but it just didn't. I loved that there was so much extra room in the toe box, however the problem then became that my heel slipped too much. I even tried sizing down a half size but there was still too much heel slip. otherwise it was a comfy fit and i really liked it - it would probably work for someone who doesn't have such a narrow heel. Another thing I noted was that the sole of the boot seemed a bit too thin/soft and that you might feel lots of stones, etc while on the trail.

I ordered two different sizes and three separate pairs (one from another site) of these hoping one of them would fit right. Maybe it's just the manufacturing of this particular boot that was not consistent, but none worked. I am in between a 6.5 & 7 in hiking boots and the 7 fit the best but almost too large. I loved the lightweight of the boots and the look and very disappointed I couldn't get them to work for me. One note to watch out for is the stitching on the inner side of the ankle on one pair was really stiff and rubbed my ankle to where I was limping after a 6 mile hike, (but that was on the pair from the other site). I would suggest, if you love the boots you may be able to find the right pair for your feet. Thanks to STP and their great return policy and customer service, the search for the right boot goes on.
