“I live in Edmonton, Canada and we've recently had some of the coldest temperatures in our city's history (-46C/-50F). I took this opportunity to test these shoes in a regular daily environment. I take public transit; with heavy snows and traffic snafus, it's likely that you could be waiting outside for twenty to thirty minutes. I found these shoes performed very well in this weather, as long as I was wearing heavy socks. If I only wore my thin, dress socks...the shoes themselves seemed to cool off. But if I had a decent pair of thick cotton (gym) socks or wool socks I had no problem! The weather has finally broken, just this week (-20C/-4F), and with the remaining snow drifts and icy sidewalks, these shoes have a great grip and keep my feet very comfortable. I had a chance to take them out into deep snow, and with snow pants, my ankles stayed fairly protected. If you're heading into deep snow/trekking you should consider a boot or hiker. For urban areas, where snow pile-up doesn't get too deep, these are perfect! I've recommended these to all my friends because they're light enough to wear in the mall while shopping (with boots, your feet overheat when you spend too much time inside) yet heavy enough to wear at the bus stop in minus 40-degree weather.”
