For those looking for a trail running shoe - look elsewhere. This is not a trail running shoe, its too stiff for running. Its an adventure racing shoe. That said, its my go to shoe for cross training off piste. I've used it to 'run' the Ptarmigan Traverse in a day, traverse class 5 peaks in the Idaho Pioneers, and train in the Boise foothills. I wish they still made the shoe, as the built in gaitor is perfect to keep your feet free of debris and the stability is leagues above a trail runner. If you are looking for ltwt off trail shoe, this shoe can't be beat.

I purchased these shoes because I'm a die hard fan of the Solomon XA Comp running shoe. The new Solomon Comp 4 design lacks the support of the older versions and I was excited to find these Comp 3's. As usual, they run 1/2 size large (I bought a 6 when I normally wear a 6 1/2). HOWEVER, they had one cosmic flaw for which I have to send them back: even if you fold over the gator, it is very difficult to get running orthodics in/out of this shoe. Had I been able to do that, I would have kept them.

Haven't had a chance to get to use these yet. I usually wear a size 6 running shoe, but the 6 was too big so I exchanged for a 5.5 and that seems just as big as the 6?? May exchange for another size, or may just give up.

Well, it took ordering 3 sizes to get it right. I usually wear a 6 in athletic shoes, but 6 was too big, 5.5 was too big, 5 fits well. The gaiter is quite cumbersome, but once you get them on, they perform well. I have worn them for adventure racing and they worked fine, but they hold water inside them. So if you're going to be in deep water, just know that they don't drain well. And there is 'something' in the toe of the shoe that is stiff and can rub your toes?? I don't know what it is, but it's stiff, rigid and on the top of the toe box?? Dont notice most of the time, but it can be uncomfortable. But the color is great and I get lots of compliments on the shoes! I am pleased with my purchase just wish I would have gotten the size right on the first try! Thanks and have a great day!
