Great findVerified Buyer Reviewed by Anonymous from Northern CA on Tuesday, August 2, 2016I have had 3pair of these shoes and so happy to have found them on Sierra Trading Post at a significant discount. I have narrow feet and these do run on the narrow side. I normally wear a 10.5 -11 womens and these are perfect in a 10.5. For hiking these are great, no slipping on rocks as the sole lugs grab nicely. I don't recommend them for asphalt walking...they are comfortable but the lugs wear out more quickly. I also use my superfeet orthotics in them which keep my arches happy.

Right out of the box I took them for an 8 mile train run and they felt great. Previously I had worn the men's version (size 10) but got these in a women's 11 and they felt identical. If I see another pair on STP, I'm buying them!
They have excellent traction and support. They are my go-to trail shoe for any distance, and I even use my old ones as 'road running shoes' now. Really terrific! -

As previous reviewers have said, it does run about a 1/2 size large. I wear an 11 in sandals, 10 in boots,11.5 in running shoes, and this shoe fit well in an 11. Prior Salomon shoes have been too short in an 11, such as the Fellraiser, but this one fit great! This shoe is less rigid and the lugs are less aggressive than the Fellraiser. I cannot testify to the water resistance because I haven't used them in wet conditions yet. This will be tested soon on a trip to Ireland.

I love the waterproof uppers, as I live in soggy W. Oregon. The shoes are a narrow-ish fit, and that works for me. Size is accurate. The soles are soft, so are meant for dirt and other trail materials. They wear down very quickly on hard surfaces. They feel like they give good support, and the quick cinch to close them is so much easier than laces.

Grabs mud and got through lots of rocky trail. These were recommended by my trail running friend. My foot is wider and the toe box feels great. Nice snug fit in my heel. The elastic laces and "tie clip" make it easy to get the correct smug hug fit.

Deciding whether or not it's worth the hassle of returning them.

Last year I purchased two pairs, one with Climashield and one without. I wear the waterproof ones for rainy days, winter dog walks, etc, and the non-waterproof ones in the warmer drier weather. The soles are made to be used on soft ground as trail running shoes, not pounding pavement every day, so over the course of the year I wore them both smooth. I recently replaced both and find them to be so comfortable that I will continue to buy 2 pair, every year, until they are no longer made. Heel cup is perfectly snug, forefoot seems to be a typical medium width, works for average to narrow feet, wide feet may find them too narrow, but confirm that with people who have wide feet(mine are narrow). Speed laces are durable and speedy. The Climashield shoe is waterproof with the exception of the tongue. I find that when I wear these shoes with rain pants and a rain coat for a mile and a half of gentle rain my feet come through it dry. In the pouring rain, a little bit may make it through the tongue seam, but not much. They are supportive enough to wear for an entire day on my feet as well.
