5.0 out of 5 stars. Salomon's best-seller in the last few years for a reason
Reviewed by Dandy like a Dandelion from Texas on Wednesday, March 25, 2015
I stopped running a decade ago, after I tore cartilage in my left knee through years of an excessive running. Sentiment remained so I use running shoes for brisk walks these days. I walk about 2 miles a day; I walk 4-7 times a week, depending on weather. During the past few years, I went through Nike, Asolo, Mammut and now, after reading the raving reviews, Salomon Speedcross shoes. What I didn’t like that much in Asolo and Mammut (various styles) were somewhat stiff soles; they didn’t bend much. That’s not the case in these Selomon Speedcross shoes. Then, again, I use them for walking. I noticed in the reviews on Sierra and other ones, that people with average- as well as narrow-width feet like these Speedcross shoes by Salomon. I’m on a narrow side and I find them fitting me very well – I think the reason is that the heel in these shoes is designed in such a manner that it makes a foot very stable, without causing an abrasion, creating a feeling of a foot being “well grounded.” BTW, the soles seem to rub off faster in these shoes than in others by different manufacturers – that doesn’t matter to me much since I find these Salomon Speedcross shoes to be my most comfortable running shoes to-date. Also, I’d rather go through shoes faster if that were to protect my cartilage, joints, feet, etc. Regarding the size: my foot measures, while standing on it, 23 cm - that’s Eur 38 and true US 7 but now, with vanity sizing reaching as far as our feet, some call it 6.5 or even 6.0. I bought these Salomon Speedcross shoes in size 6.0 and they fit me the way they should (note: I wear thinner socks with my running shoes). Regarding the color – that’s as personal as we are. I LOVE my ORANGE shoes. It’s not my first or second pair of orange shoes – I love orange driving moccasins, slip-on ballets, etc., and I often times accessorizes my wardrobe with orange scarves, gloves, and shoes so these orange running Salomons fit my bill. I truly like these shoes, so much so that I bought them in gray and green colors as well. Also, based on what Salomon rep told me (I called them to inquire about more colors for 2015 season), these shoes have been Salomon's best seller in the last few years. I highly recommend these shoes.

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Great shoe

Shoe fits true to size. I wear a 9.5 and that size fits comfortably. They seem to run narrow which is perfect for me. Great traction and the lacing system has always been my favorite feature from Salomon. Great for the trails, OCR's and even climbing on the play equipment with my kid at the park.

I've wanted these shoes for a while now, but I refuse to pay $140 for them. So when I found them here for such a great price, I had to order. They are the most supportive and comfortable shoes I own. The quick laces are awesome for quick adjustments when runnin.
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Best OCR shoe out there

All the OCR racers have them. There's a reason. Ran Spartan and Battlefrog in these, no problems on rocky mountains, sand, mud, water or climbing of any sorts. The best of the best. Need no breakin-in time. Don't hesitate. However, sizing is a size smaller. I'm a 10 in all nike's and adidas. I am a 9 in these. Wear Swiftwick thin racing socks for these races or runs. A thick sock I would need a 9.5 but I won't be using these on any occasion calling for thick socks. Super light!!! Maybe a tad heavier than nike Free's! Love love love. Wash like a dream also. Get these on sale, don't bother with paying more for color schemes if you're using these for OCR's.
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Awesome trail shoes!!

I had another pair of these shoes and wore them out so I got them in the other color offered, a bright pinkish orange. They are amazing trail shoes. I wore them for a killer trail half marathon in Colorado and they totally rocked!! They are comfortable, stylish, and most of all have awesome lugs (sticky rubber), on the soles that grip the rocks. I feel totally stable when I run trails on these babies. You WON'T be disappointed with these.

About Salomon

The legendary Salomon outdoor equipment company was founded more than 60 years ago in the French Alps by Francois Salomon. After developing the world’s first self-releasing ski binging in 1966, the company continued to grow and innovate new products. By the early 1990s, the brand had taken the wintersports market by storm with Salomon skis made using cap construction, a totally new innovation at the time. Salmon boots quickly became famous for their balance of performance and comfort on the slopes. By the turn of the century, Salomon snowboards were helping athletes push themselves in the park and powder. Today, Salomon continues to be an industry leader, with products that range from skis and snowboards to hiking boots and trail running shoes.
