I haven't done a substantial hike yet but a few 5 mile walks to break them in. I hardly know I'm wearing a boot. I hope I get a lot of mileage out of them. The shoelaces can be a bit longer but that isn't a big deal.

They keep your feet dry and are rugged. Because they are stiffer boots than say Keen boots, buya 1/2 size larger than you normally would. Then you'll have enough room to wear whatever kind of socks you'd like and won't bang your toes on endless descents into the Grand Canyon or down your favorite peak.

After reading the positive reviews for these boots I brought them. It states that you have to buy a 1/2 size smaller. I wear an 8.5 and I brought the 8. They fitted me perfect. I wore them to work where I walk , bend and stand for 8 hours the first day. They really were comfortable without any breaking in period. Wear thick sock.
