What's Good: Stiffeness and solid feel of sole. Lightweight for the amount of torsional rigidity offered by sole. Snug fit, those who complained about fit have the wrong size or wide feet.
What's Bad: Gortex liner makes for hot feet; does anyone make a leather hiking boot without the Gortex liner anymore? Fabric lining grippy on my Ultimax socks creating heel hot spots and blisters. Leather lining would reduce the friction. Also noticed that there is horizontal and vertical stitching on the heel cup which I feel contributes to the heel friction and could become a weak point for overall durability.
Verdict: Good but not great. My old Raichle Free Spirits are the perfect boot for me but no longer made. The lack of gortex lining was never an issue and the all leather construction (interior and exterior) was incredibly durable and comfortable. The Scarpas are nice but not as good as the Raichles which I am taking to a cobbler for possible repair. If all goes well, I'll probably return or pass on the Scarpas.

Beautiful shoe and I was hoping it would fit but I have one foot that is wider in the toe box area only and this shoe has a tight toe box area. I wish it came in wide.

My wife has worn this boot for several years. She is an avid rock climber and works as a Forest Service Botanist, so she spends a lot of time on her feet. These boots have held up well to her abuse...so much so, that she bought an extra pair just to keep in the closet in case they stop making them.

I use the product for single/multi day hikes over rugged terrain. Both my feet have been completely submerged (briefly) and stayed dry! It's very comfortable and really light weight. Great product!

Normally take an 8 or 8.5. Ordered a 40 per the sizing chart and the boots were very big, mostly in the toebox which seemed tall. I am wide at the toes and sometimes this helps, but in these boots it was overkill. Very comfortable boots. Colors not so good for dusty trails.

I work outside as part of my profession, analyzing and desribing soils, so I am walking and hiking in fields and woods, and in backhoe pits. I also use these boots for farm chores and they have been great in this winter's deep snows!
The traction is great. I have to have something waterproof and durable, so I was happy to find these. I wore the boots indoors a few days to break them in and to know how tight to lace them. They were a little stiff at the top, but I am enjoying them immensely!

I wear a 7.5US and had to exchange the 38.5 for the 39 to get a better fit for wider feet. (The 38.5 was wearable, but I didn't want to risk them not stretching enough to be really comfy.) Once I got the right size, they have been very easy to break in: roomy toe box, no chafing, and good traction on muddy woodsy trails. Warm and dry in snow. May need to add arch support for longer hikes.
