Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
I use these boots for mixed climbing, ice climbing and with my snowshoes. These boots are very comfortable to walk in - much more so than a plastic boot. They're flexible enough that my lower legs aren't bruised or overly sore when doing a lot of mileage on the snowshoes. They're also rigid enough to handle vertical ice and mixed terrain really well. I wear a women's 9 street shoe and bought the 40.5. They fit perfectly with heavy socks and a liner. I haven't had problems with cold toes.

Got these boots for snow, ice and glaciers, they will do the job wonderfully. Wore them for a short outing in the snow for about 5 miles, did get some blisters, but that was mainly due to my poor choice in socks. My feet were toasty warm, great support, great traction and good arch support. I went with the suggestion on sizing up half a size and was glad I did. They fit like a glove. there is a little heel slipage, over all a great boot for the price.

Bought these for my sister, she is an avid rock climber getting into mountaineering. They seemed to fit her well, ordered a half size up like standard practice. They seem to be well constructed boots and should service lightweight mountaineering and ice climbing suitably.

Scarpa knows how to make boots! La Sportiva boots are usually a little narrow for my feet but Scarpa boots fit perfectly. Buy a half size up from your normal street shoe size. These boots are super comfortable and warm. Also, the break in time was super short.

Haven't had a chance to wear them yet. It's still summer. They fit true to size according to Italian metric not German. I wear a 7.5 hiking boot, the 39 fit perfect.

I wanted a mountaineering boot that was versatile enough to climb vertical ice in but still comfortable enough to not suffer on long, challenging approaches or climbing 14-ers in summer OR winter. So, you're going to have to sacrifice some stiffness for comfort and dexterity in the ankle of this boot compared to hardshell boots. My first ice climb in these boots involved a 1.5 hour hour approach up a snowy boulder field, followed by a 3-pitch climb that lasted several hours (3 of us climbing on a single rope), followed by a strenous downclimb after topping out and walking off at the top of the ice falls. My feet, which are always cold, stayed warm and comfortable. No hotspots or pressure points. I normally wear a women's size 8, and ended up with a size 40 in these boots because I wanted room for my orthotics. I have also used them for hiking 14-ers in the summer, and my feet were so well supported that there was never any fatigue or stone bruises that you get from lighter boots with "squishy" soles. Scrambling over boulders and loose rocks at the summit in these boots was great because the Vibram soles and the stiffness make the boots rock solid and you know your foot isn't going anywhere. Very happy with the boots--I have a pair of Scarpa AT ski boots too, so I'm a huge fan of their products. Those Italians know how to make footwear.

I bought these boots for a climb up Rainier. I couldn't beat the price, but I know I will come home with blisters. They are very sloppy - the suggestion to size up seems inaccurate to me - I had to send them back for my true size. The heel cup just does not hug my feet, and with any front-pointing, my heels rub up and down. I have tried extra insoles, and my fingers are rubbed raw from tying them as tight as possible. We'll see if the discomfort was worth the price!
