“Bought a pair of the Triolet GTX explicitly for longer treks into the woods and with heavier loads. No disappointment with them at all so far. Wore around work and home to get a feel for the initial break in, very little required. Very good performance right out of the box. After wearing casually, I hit my normal trails to hike & train where the boots proved themselves sublime in their comfort and capabilities. After 20+ miles they are exceptionally comfortable and capable. Sizing feels true if you heed the recommendation from Sierra. They do run a half size small as stated in the product info. I normally wear a 45, bought 45.5 and the fit is excellent. No rub or hot spots. Generous toe box. Very good ankle & arch support. Arch/mid-foot feels a tad narrow, but I suspect it will stretch out a bit with time and be even better. Stiff enough to provide good support under load without feeling obnoxious/clumsy. Lacing is easy to adjust and very accessible even with gloves on. Vibram Mulaz sole is pretty grippy overall but does not clear mud on the trails I frequent. Thus you may find them a bit slick depending on soil composition. No leaks or seepage when crossing streams or plowing through snow. Temperature of the boot seems well regulated, the GoreTex construction kept my feet from becoming too hot and sweating with an average pair of North Face hiking socks on. Will be interested to see how hot they get in the summer though, have yet to have them out in anything above 50F. Coldest temp encountered so far was about 25F and they were cozy even when covered in snow. If you are looking to do shorter trail jaunts or general hiking then a lighter and more flexible boot could provide a bit more comfort/ease. However, the Triolet GTX is a great boot that covers a wide range of functionality - if you are going on extended treks or carrying reasonably large loads then they will excel. Buy a pair with confidence and enjoy them, an excellent piece of gear from Scarpa. Highly recommended.”
