When snorkeling, this camera takes the best pictures in clear water when the sun is bright.

Great little camera - the one flaw that really hurts it (for my usage, anyway) is the lack of an optical viewfinder. The LCD screen is sometimes a bit hard to see in sunlight, and takes a bit to get focused. This is a (substantial) problem when trying to shoot moving fish! The underwater aspect is great - just don't forget the minimum focus distance of 2.5'.

    Blurry Photos, Not Versatile

First I purchased the camera for wet conditions not underwater. I do a lot of kayaking, canoeing, swimming, beach and hiking activities. Here in Oregon these all involve wet environments. I didn't want to chance my good SLR in say my kayak. This camera is basically a waterproof fixed focus snapshot camera with all the limitations that entails. The depth of field after 2-3 feet is good BUT. The shutter lag is very noticeable but not as bad as many other digitial non-SLRs.The shutter speed leaves something to be desired. Definately not for fast action shots. The shutter is stiff which can cause the camera to jiggle if not held tightly. The view screen is very difficult to see in any degree of brightness. If you are used to a good digital SLR you will be hampered by the limited range of options and only an ASA of 200. That said the pictures it does produce are pretty good but will never be prize winners. If you shot for National Geographic this is not your camera. If you want a smallish camera for decent family pictures at the beach, snorking, diving or hiking this is a good choice.

The camera is a little heavy but is fantastic. Not only are we water enthusiasts but also dirt enthusiasts. The camera's maiden voyage was a quad ride in the desert to see how land pictures turned out. WOW! It was awsome. My husband is rough on everything and it passed the test. We got some great pics of his birthday ride with his buddies. The water tight seals make it dust proof also, a definite plus.
