5.0 out of 5 stars. Securely holding kayaks as required

The two sets of wall cradles I purchased are performing exactly as needed. While the products are working as advertised, there are a few issues I would like to note:
1. The screw holes on the bottom bracket are wider than the typical 2x4 stud in a wall. To resolve that issue, I screwed additional lumber to the wall studs to ensure I would have a solid mount for those screws (instead of just going through drywall).
2. The screw heads on the top two screws will mar your boat. I had to add neoprene over the tops to protect my boat.
3. Each bracket is angled outwards in a different direction. There is nothing in the documentation that indicates which side which one should be on.

Other than the above items, the brackets are doing their job; one supporting a 12' Native SOT and the other a 12' Wilderness sit in. Things normally take me longer than other people, but mounting both of them took just under 90 minutes due to the extra support wood I added to the walls.

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Excellent storage option

So far, I am very pleased with the quality and finish of these kayak cradles.
  • 3.0 out of 5 stars. Not durable

I've had these a while so I can finally add a review. As far as design, function, and price these can't be beat. My only complaint is that the foam is pretty soft and not durable. The soft parts that come in contact with the boat have started to tear and come away from the tubing.
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Simple Solution for Kayak Storage

I have now installed four of these and with a measuring tape, pencil and power drill, it's child's play.
I read that some people added extra support but I find that the two massive screws, when placed in a stable 2 x 4, are absolutely adequate.
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Work well so far

I store our three kayaks outside on a wooden partition wall. I've been looking for cradles that would not force me to take a second mortgage to pay for them. I decided to give these a try and so far I'm pleased. They are easy to mount with the supplied screws and they are solid. The only reason I did not give them an additional star is I've only had them up for about three weeks. I'll see how they hold up to weather exposure over the winter etc. The foam on the lower cradle seems to be durable I almost expected pipe insulation for padding but it is more dense than that. I definitely would not hesitate to buy them for inside storage. The three kayaks I store on them range from 65 to 79 lbs. and they feel very secure. We have 2 sit in and a sit on kayak and they work well for both hull types. I've incorporated nylon straps to hold them down in case of heavy winds and I use bicycle locks to secure them. Just thought I'd throw in that last part just in case anyone was considering using them outside like I am.
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Nice rack
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Steve the kayaker from MA on Thursday, May 26, 2016
Installation is super simple, just screw some long screws into the wall on a stud; need to be a bit careful as the heads are made of soft metal and easily strip out, but fortunately there are extras. Once in the rack is very sturdy and holds my kayak gently. I have a 17'6" wood sea touring kayak and it works nicely, and I imagine any kayak would fit fine.
