It's a small cube, which is nice. The crank and solar work fine. The sound quality lacks, which is expected due to it's small size. Easy to use. The main issue I have is the volume control doesn't work. You get one volume level, which is LOUD. If the volum worked, I would give this a 4. Good for portable camping trips.

I bought these originally from LLBean for Xmas presents for my 30 something year old kids. One uses his constantly at the hockey rink as the speaker is very loud and great for outdoor use. He attaches it to his ipod daily. He uses it so much I was sure it would wear out so I bought this one to give to him next Xmas as well!

Set it outside and let the sun charge it for you...couldn't be easier. Good sound and I could get all the channels I wanted. Haven't had any luck with the weather band yet, but, as long as I can get the channels I'll get the weather news.

I would recommend this back up radio/speaker for those who don't need a superb sound quality while enjoying the great outdoors. It doesn't seem to be intended for prolonged use and needs to be charged frequently. Unlike the same item from different retailer, this comes without USB charger (clear from description provided by STP).

Very nice little radio. Suprised by nice carrying case that it came with. Haven't been able to get weather band to come in yet but that may just be our location.

Some ask if this really does crank charge your device and yes, I just found by cranking it as it was plugged in via usb to my Droid it certainly did charge the unit! Even if it was enough for one phone call, its worth its weight and some. Hope this helps. This is the first review on over 100's of items I have bought from STP. Gotta love STP!

couldn't believe how nice this little radio is. i will use it for backpacking because it is small and compact. it comes with a really nice zippered case that looks water resistant. the case also has room for an mp3 player in a plastic sleeve. the radio itself has surprisingly good sound for such a small radio. you have to crank it for about 4 or 5 minutes to get a good hour of playing time at a reasonable volume but if the solar panel works (i haven't tried it yet) then u can just put it a sunny window sill for a couple days before you camp or whatever and it will be charged. i was even able to pick up a local weather report on the WB setting. im gonna order a few more of these for gifts. i got it for about ten bucks after a good STP discount. for that price ill stock up. also came with cord to connect an mp3 player with an attachment that converts stereo to mono.

So far so good. I haven't test the solar charger, but it should work just fine. For the price, it is a good deal. The cranking system works fine. The only thing that I would change would be the speaker. I wouldn't mine paying an extra 10 bucks to get a better sound quality.
