After looking up instructions online found out the side parts of the buckle need to be pushed down to open. I usally wear an 8.5 to 9 and have a wide foot. 39 in Dansko and Birkenstock are perfect but the 39 felt at least one size to small. My toes were jammed in and curled. Returned and no larger shoes available.
