After several 30+ mile rides and a 60 mile ride today I can now review this shoe. I was a bit concerned when I first received them as the forefoot area seemed narrower than on the Shimano shoes I was replacing. On my previous shoes, I usually had to loosen the straps to prevent hot spots at the ball of my right foot on long rides. Well...despite keeping all straps snug on my 60+ mile ride today no hot spots! Both feet very comfortable all day. Because I could keep them tighter than my previous shoes pedaling efficiency seemed much better, especially on the upstroke. Another very nice feature is the fabric at the heel. Think snake skin...smooth when you touch in one direction but rough in the other. It kept my heels firmly in the heel cups. This, I should add, is without having done the custom molding. In fact, they fit so well that I will probably not have them fitted. As for the custom molding, you should know that the moldable material is only present at the heel. The molding has to be done at a specialty shop. If you're buying for that feature, check the Shimano web site to see if there is a shop near you that does it...most LBS do not. The two quotes I received for the service was 75$ and 50$. Because my fit is so good, and it's an hour drive to the shop, I don't think it's worth it for me.Overall I love these shoes. [$] shoes for [$] (with extra discount) at STP can't be beat. I love STP!
