I was a little worried the shoes wouldn't fit. I used the recommendations based on my US size, and they fit perfectly. I was also worried that a "normal" width shoe would have too narrow of a fit. My foot can be sometimes too wide for some shoes. I had no problems with the width.

I have a pair of Sidi mtb shoes that I love. STP had these in my size but they just won't work for me. Budget-conscious, yes, but the two closures are not enough to hold you in place comfortably.

Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
My size 47 Specialized translated well into this shoe at size 47 although a slight bit narrower. I like using mountain bike shoes for commuting better than these as they are more functional, easier to walk in, etc. I also have had a problem with clipping in with the bottom of these shoes slipping right off the pedal as they are slick on the bottom, whereas my mountain bike shoes have ridges to keep this from happening. Therefore, this shoe is better when you are not in traffic having to unclip from your pedal while the angry guy in his pickup wonders why you slipped off your pedal. I recommend for more of a long ride where you are not in traffic. I have also had the problem of trying to clip in on a steep hill. Granted I only ride 3000 miles a year so a true expert might be better with the clipless pedals than me! I also would rather have purchased the version with the ratchet buckle. I really think the slippery soles make this a no purchase unless you are planning to use only for racing.

Sidi quality was evident, this shoe was worth the price, a noticeable difference in fit and support from my previous road shoe. The 2 strap closure system holds tight although does not provide the ease of the micro adjustment system

I've always wanted to try Sidi shoes but they are very expensive, like all the good ones. This pair will be well-used and I may never go back to any other brand for my road cycling!

Great shoe for the money. Sidi makes good stuff. Warning, I wear a regular 10.5 shoe - an 11 in running shoes. The recommendation was for a size 45 which was way too big. I returned them for a 44 which was plenty big, I maybe even could use a 43.5 with thin socks.

These shoes are just plan great. Very comfortable for long rides, and responsive enough for hammering in the sprint (yeah I know, how is a shoe "responsive" - well the sole is stiff enough not to flex under high stress, okay? Very few bike shoes these days will flex but worth mentioning). Sidi shoes run a little wider in the forefoot, so if you have wide feet, these won't make your pinky toe go numb on long rides. They also are not hideously obnoxious like most cycling apparel; very sleek and low profile, yet give the appearance of a higher end shoe for those elitist cycling snobs in the group that won't know any better. Comes with an encyclopedia on how to install every kind of cleat under the sun, and about 100 Sidi stickers to advertise your new favorite shoe brand. 2 nit picky items; not very good for walking (but you don't do a whole lot of that in CYCLING shoes now do you?) and the tongue is a bit high (just trim it down with some scissors to accommodate your foot and problem solved). Basically, if you want a comfortable, attractive, and functional shoe, you can't really complain with these.

I was surprised by how stiff these are, but I guess that is by design. I'm new to road biking and have not yet clipped-in with these. I suspect that they will be more usable once I do get them broken in and am able to clip in.
