Needs more insulation on the bottom surface. Elastic around the ankle should be adjustable. Mildly warm. Get at least one size larger, runs very small.

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
I purchased these for cold weather/winter snow camping. Other reviews claimed that they were poorly insulated and not recommended for use in winter camping, but after 4 days of winter camping in Manning Provincial Park with knee deep snow and temperatures just below freezing, they performed very well. I even wore them outside the tent while cooking meals and talking with my group with snow falling constantly and my feet stayed dry, warm, and comfortable. The underfoot traction aids really helped with walking on the snow. Some reviews recommended ordering a size up, but I followed that advice and they felt large on my feet. I should have stuck with Mediums. I was a little bit disappointed with the durability of the stitching. After only the second day of use, I noticed one or two threads coming lose near where the sole joins the upper. I would have expected better quality stitching from a Sierra Designs product. I certainly would not consider using them in rain, but they shed moisture from even wet snow surprisingly well.
