Sierra Designs Gaia Down Jacket (For Women)

I love this jacket so far, but haven't taken it in the backcountry yet. I purchased for keeping in my pack on cross country ski trips, but I like it so much I've been wearing it as my coat every day. It's soft, looks great, love the blue color, lightweight. It overheats me unless the temp is below 32, but I believe it will be perfect for Montana winters. Favorite down jacket I've ever owned. Great buy.

Purchased this jacket for daily use, hikes, lots of outdoor adventures in the Tetons. Went with this b/c of great price. I'd found better at the full retail price, but nothing close to this quality for the price I paid. STP's massive discount made this the choice over a 600+ fill jacket. Impressed with its quality, warmth, fit and styling. Impressed with its loft. Does leak a few feathers, but minimal. This jacket is a steal at the price.

Bought this for ice climbing. Love that is can be stuffed into it's own pocket. The sleeve length just fits me when I have my arms down. I do have slightly longer arms than most ladies. I would have liked the sleeve length to be an inch longer. I am 5'8" and the length of the coat sits just at my butt which for ice climbing is great because I can reach my harness loops but if this was my everyday coat I would want it longer.

Looks great around town but also this is packable and seems tough enough to take some abuse while hiking, back-packing, and traveling.

Used because it was lightweight and warm for backpacking.

I had been searching for over a year for a down jacket without a lot of bells and whistles, that was reasonably priced, that I could just pop on to run to the post office on chilly days. This jacket is perfect. Nice color. Simple lines. Very warm. The price couldn't have been better. I'm happy. In fact I'm ordering another one before they are gone to keep at another location. This is basic wardrobe item - won't go out of style.

Lots of reviews discuss problems with sleeve length and chest, but almost none give measurements. So, for reference: I have 17 1/2" (44.5 cm) arm length, 34A chest(US). I bought the Medium. Sleeve length is perfect for me, elastic comes exactly to my wrist, and I have plenty of room in chest. Agree with others that shoulder area is a little puffy, but it doesn't detract from fit(I got some second opinions as well), and it gives room to layer. Also, I was able to stuff jacket into its own pocket as easily as fitting a down sleeping back into a stuff sack - which means you do have to put a little energy into it, but it will fit. I bought this specifically due to the warmth/weight ratio so that I don't have to haul a bulky winter coats when traveling. I'm able to fit a standard W's Med. Gore-tex paclite rain shell over it for weatherproofing, which makes a very good packable, lightweight winter travel combo.

I use this jacket mostly for camping/backpacking or evenings on the beach when it gets chilly. The jacket is very warm and comfortable, and packs down nicely for backpacking. Also, the color was not as shiny as it looked on my computer monitor (a plus). I do wish it were perhaps 1-2 inches longer, but I am 5'9" with a long torso, so I imagine I'm one of the few people with this desire!
