Best Uses:
All-around raincoat, Light hiking, Running errands, Walking the dog
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
I needed to replace a raincoat that I wrecked by washing it in the washing machine (per the label instructions). Actually I've never found a raincoat that I liked as well as an old North Face raincoat, but I had had an ultralight Sierra Designs raincoat before and it fit decently (I'm about 5'10", thin, and often have trouble with sleeves being too short), so I thought I would give this coat a try. Definitely my 2nd favorite, if not absolute favorite, raincoat ever! I wouldn't mind if it was a little more fitted, but it is definitely semi-fitted, long enough, fairly flattering, and has sleeves that are a decent length even if I straighten my hands in front of me or over my head. The hood is really nicely constructed, so that it has a nice little visor effect over your face, but without being too tight or looking ridiculous or nerdy. It can be tightened from the back, which seems to work really well. So far I have only worn it in moderate rain, not a downpour, but it's kept me nice and dry. The lining of the coat runs throughout, and it's light but gives that extra bit of insulation that is really nice to have when it's below 55 degrees or so. I haven't really exerted myself while wearing this coat, but it seems like it would breathe moderately well. The green color is a very pretty kind of celadon - not obnoxious, but very bright and cheery while still going with a lot of other colors. It makes me happy just seeing it hanging up in my office all day! Very happy with this purchase, and getting the coat for [$] before shipping charges was a bonus. Thanks again, Sierra Trading Post!
