Most Helpful 5-Star Review
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Mtn/canyon hiker from Columbus, OH on Monday, October 29, 2012This jacket has a good 3-season weight to it. On it's own in the dead of winter it would probably be too light, but over a fleece or other insulating piece it's great. There are some stitching/finishing flaws I've noted, and the outer fabric can be a bit noisy compared to similar offerings from Patagonia, Marmot, etc., but at the sale price it is hard to beat. Buy it understanding its limitations and you'll be pleased.

Got this and Lava. Lava is better, but this is a good Jacket.
It is light warm and comortable.
The lining is solid (not mesh) and is breathable.
As with all Sierra Designs that I own, the workmanship (seems, pocket placement, overall sew qulity) is good. I saw a friends sierra of diff design and was compelled to get a jacket from this company.
Quality components (zippers are waterproof and function smoothly, shell seems durable, lining is soft and comfy, insulation breathable and effective).
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Mojo1 from Lincoln, NE on Thursday, February 2, 2012Hood drawstring stays are made of foam and are not that durable.
Overall, the jacket is a decent summit jacket at a great price.
- Pros: BREATHES WELL, Fits true to size
Reviewed by Terkonekto from New Hampshire on Monday, January 30, 2012Great jacket that can be used for many adventures. I use it for winter hiking, snow shoeing, and for casual use. Blocks the wind and snow and very warm.
- Best Uses: Casual, Hiking
- Pros: breathable, Warm, Waterproof
Verified Buyer Reviewed by craigt from Lafayette, CO on Monday, January 30, 2012Everything about this jacket was perfect for a good cold weather shell to wear at the area. Only problem was the sizing. Order down a size: I typically wear a med, and it swallowed me !! I picked up a small and it was perfect.
- Best Uses: Skiing of course
- Cons: Too darn big
- Pros: Great functionality, Helmet compatible hood, Insulated, Pit zips, Waterproof breathability
