I bought this softshell mainly for midwinter snowshoe trips in Utah's Wasatch Mountains, when snow would be the only real precipitation the jacket had to deal with. It is great for that. I am 5'10" and 145 lbs, so I bought a small. The fit is not as athletic as I would like it, but there was plenty of room underneath for insulating layers (since this softshell has no insulation). This softshell breathes very well, even when doing highly aerobic upslopes, and all types of snow do not wet-out or even stay on the fabric. The few times that I have worn the jacket in town during a light drizzle have resulted in drops beading up on the exterior of the jacket. Since I have not tried this jacket out in a downpour, I cannot say how it will perform then. The hood is almost too spacious, and will easily allow for a thick hat or even helmet underneath. Pockets are nice, zippers work well. For the price, this minimalist softshell jacket cannot be beat. For winter snowshoeing and backcountry skiing, I would rate this five stars -- but overall I must give it a 4.

This is an awesome jacket! I'm 5'11"/160 lbs and I purchased a Large. If I just was wearing around, I could have gone with a Medium. I purchased a Large and it is the perfect size for layering. Great range of motion in the arms, as well.
