Simms Classic Guide Gore-Tex® Wading Jacket - Waterproof (For Men)

This will be my fishing raintop. I think the best wrist water-stop system and best overall construction at a medium weight that I have seen. I will add comments when I have had a chance to field test in a downpour, but GoreTex and Simms ought to get it done.

Great jacket water tight typical simms quality

I'm a fly fisher in the Pacific Northwest. It rains here, a lot. I haven't had any Goretex outterwear in a LONG time. I couldn't depend on it for mountaineering so I gave up and started using lined outterwear with breathable coatings like Patagonia's H2No (da bomb), and similar products by Columbia. I don't know how long the Simms' Goretex membrane will hold up but I'm not carrying a 60lb pack for miles or sliding on snow in it. The design features of this jacket are simply outstanding. Very well thought out. The zipper is sandwiched between a double storm flap. As another reviewer mentioned the adjustable watertight cuffs are superior to anything else I've ever seen. Huge front bellows pockets with drain holes and a Gigantic back pocket you can reach with the jacket on without being a contortionist. Great jacket and [$] off retail. I'm happy.
