No, I would not recommend this to a friend

“Standard ice axe design-the Black Diamond Raven looks to be more comfortable carrying for extended periods. Haven't used this yet for self arrest, but looks like it will work fine. I like the rubberized grip in that it doesn't increase the shaft diameter much. In hindsight, I would have got the BD.”
