Simond Spider HMS Auto Lock Carabiner with BLC

Great 'biner. Works well with tube-type devices and Gri Gri. Blunt nose will never hang up on anything. The only negative whatsover is that the anodization is not as hard as it could be (harder than BD, softer than Petzl), so it shows cosmetic wear (and dirties your rope) after a few rappels.

I love the locking system in the gate and the rope holder is a plus!

I really like the solid feel and size of this carabiner but the autolock could slide a little more smoothly. I suppose that could help prevent accidental opening of the gate...

The release of this locker is a bit difficult, especially with gloves on (ice climbing). The BLC system is great for belaying but cumbersome if switching between things.

After few crossload mishaps I was looking for exactly this type of device. Didn't have chance to try it yet, but it will have to do because there is nothing else out there for the task. I wish there were more of these on the market to choose from. I do not care much for the triple action auto lock.

A simple solution to eliminate cross-loading and preventing dropped belay devices. The keeper gate at the bottom of the carabiner works perfectly, keeping the carabiner properly oriented when belaying. When swapping the device out from my belay loop, I slip the belay device's keeper cable into the wire gate, holding it in the carabiner and eliminating any chance of dropping the device. The notchless gate makes it easy to load/unload the rope, and the auto locker works flawlessly.
