By snorkelVerified Reviewer from Toronto, ON on 05/04/2011
    Pros:
    Durable, Wear quite slowly
    Cons:
    Sharp notchless gate
    Describe Yourself:
    Avid Climber
    Sizing:
    Feels true to size
    Was this a gift?:
    No
    Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
I've had these for a few years and for the most part I really like them. I've only had one issue: a couple months ago I hung these draws on a route which my friend was TRing. He fell and in trying to get back on the climb he grabbed for one of these draws (which was hanging unclipped on a bolt), but because he was swinging his hand slipped and he got a gash on his palm from the sharp notchless gate. The cut was deep enough that he lost a few days of climbing. It's a pretty unlikely sequence of events so I still like and use these draws, but will look for a less sharp point when it's time to replace them.

clips really well especially compared to other draw sets that i have used: lucky and petzl. why they're not in all climbing shops is a mystery to me but i would definitely recommend these to anyone who can afford spending a little more than the minimum.

I had a gear-less friend who was a 'maybe' to join on a trip to the Dolomites... STP came through with this nicely sown/rated but cost-efficient lanyard. No fancy clips...Just well-made basics. Smooth action on the biners.

A little awkward to use at first, now feels very natural. For the price, there aren't any other belay devices that can do all the things this one can, from top roping to top belaying, a nice design to lower from above with a weighted rope. Not the most chik but gets the job done for [$].

Double security, Durable, Opens quickly, Simple
    Best Uses:
    Dog wrangling
    Bottom Line:

I use this to help me on my dog lines. The dogs can get a lot of carabiners open. Other carabiners are more secure, but then I can't get them open quickly if I need to. This one allows me to open the carabiner quickly if I need to, but its double security outsmarts the dogs.

For hardcore mountaineering purposes, you may want an ax with a longer shaft. Well-made and light-weight--great for easy to moderate climbs.
