I fly over 100k a year for work and wear these every time I get on a plane. They have significantly reduced swelling in my legs after those long flights and with the wool I can wear them for 48hrs + of travel without any offensive odors! Going to order another pair or two and start using them for bi... Read More

Great compression socks for my long excruciating painful distance runs. Smartwool is great for my skin sensitive issues. It does not cause me to breakout in rash when it's too tight. Great investments socks.

Great pair of socks -- first time out I wore them on a trail for a long run in 40 degree western PA weather. No complaints.

All the advantages of a SmartWool product; premium materials, impeccable workmanship, US made. But for some reason, this style of sock is always just a wee bit shorter than some of their other styles. I wish this style were just 3/4" taller.

Impressed by the compressed! They work well for my wife, and keep her feet from swelling on long hikes or runs. They lose a star because of SmartWool's durability factor. We accept that she will be replacing these in a year or less of deliberate use.

I couldn't be happier with these size large socks and will order more. Years of searching for compression socks that truly fit without cutting off circulation somewhere (like the top band or around the ankle) are over for me. The fit on my long lower legs and my size 10.5 feet is ideal. There is toe wiggle room, the socks have beautifully knitted-in contours, and the muscular wool and elastane blend is impressively firm. I now have the technique down for getting them on and off! You know they are doing their job! Mine are silver, and "imperfect" (hence the great price) but there are no obvious flaws whatsoever.

    • Answer For me the sizing recommendation was accurate. I can't compare the compression to others since this was my first pair of compression socks, however, the compression is definitely there, yet not overbearing. I bought these to try for work (12.5hr shifts) and I would recommend them.

    • Answer I wear a men's shoe size 10.5-11 and i buy the Large in these which says US men's 9-11.5 and they fit perfect. My wife wears women's 8 so she got the Medium and they fit her great. So I would say sizing is spot on to what they say. Compression says 20-30mmHg in the description, but I don't see it on the packaging. Comparing to the many other brands I've tried though they do feel 20-30mmHg. I've tried many different brands and materials for 20-30 compression socks and these are by far the most comfortable, I love them. they are soft, and breath good. I'm very glad I found these. great deal if you wait for a good sale.

    • Answer True to size. Great fit. They are extremely comfortable and fit properly. I would describe them firm compression. They really help with recovery from fatigue.

    • Answer I had a blood clot with my first pregnancy (over 7 years ago) plus I stand on my feet over 10 hours a day so a good compression sock is a must. I purchased these a second time because I found them to be superior over the Futuro brand in comfort and compression. If your looking for a sock with light compression, these socks are not for you. The compression is pretty strong, which is what I was looking for. And the material withstands washings (without drying) a lot better than nylon stockings.

As far a sizing, I wear a 6.5 to a 7, so I went with the small. I was worried about sizing because I've got big athletic calves (15" circumference.) However, the small seems to fit pretty good. Vary rarely, by the end of a 10+ hour day, they may feel a little tight where they meet my calf. Yet I'd still order the same size.

    • Answer Compression? Not sure. Check the SmartWool website, maybe? I wear compression stockings for purely medical reasons, and these are definitely athletic compression and not as... compressiony. But they are definitely different from normal socks.

Because they're compression, they look small but stretch (with a tiny bit more effort than normal socks). Both me and my husband have them and we are both on the larger side of our sizes. My husband wears a size 14 shoe, and his feet are very wide. He also has thick, cyclist calfs. I bought him the men's XL and they are totally fine for him. Not too small in the foot and they stay up over his calfs. I have thick, cyclist calfs, too, and the women's M works for me. I wear a 39 shoe (about 8 or 8.5, but also wide) and they are perfect for me.

I think they're well worth the discounted price.

    • Answer I have the yellow (green) pair in Med. I am a women's size US8.5 and these fit perfect on my feet. I am 5'5" and the length is also perfect--they cover my calves up to my knee. They are tight enough to give good compression but without restricting movement of my toes and without being too tight at the top. (I have a different smartwool compression sock that is a little too tight on my feet and hat leaves a deep red line around the top, so I prefer this pair waaay better).

  • Question “How long are these socks? Is 'over the calf' to the knee?”

Asked on 1/6/2014 4:55:04 PM by Utahbard from Utah
    • Answer Generally over the calf covers the calf but does not go quite up to the knee.
