Perhaps Smart Wool should change the designation. The socks were returned because they did not provide enough 'cushioning'.

Answer The sizing chart for socks is normally in the item description. The size is based on a range of two- to three-sizes of shoes. If you were a size 8 shoe, the 6-9 socks would be the best fit.

Answer The only defect I could find on my pair was that the stitching of the brand name (smartwool) on the BOTTOM of the sock was coming off. The sock itself is perfect. Don't hesitate to get these.
