The first time I wore these socks I was very impressed. Hiked for several hours, was raining, and my feet stayed warm and dry. These socks are very comfortable and soft. Liked them so well I'll be ordering more.

They are fine but just a bit skimpy compared to other SmartWool socks I have had.

I LOVE smart wool. I have been using smart wool socks on my rock climbing approaches and hikes for 5 years. As a climber, I carry a lot of gear with me, and I always try to fly with only a carry on since I can't afford the fees on flights and I can't afford to loose my gear if I send it through. As a result, I need to save carry on space wherever possible. These socks allow me to pack only 2 (3 maximum) pairs of socks for up to a week long trip. That's because they are so quick drying, I can wash them with some hand soap in my hotel room or at camp and wear them the next day. I end up rotating my 2 pairs over and over, and I promise it's not gross or smelly at all! Plus, I've worn these socks hiking in and across streams in Alaska and rain, and the water magically beads up on them and jumps off. My feet stayed dry and comfy even while sweating or enduring wet weather. That's why I ordered these. They are so much cheaper than if you were to buy these retail. I couldn't pass it up. Only caveat, I have small size 6 feet and sometimes when I first put on my shoe, the heel of the sock kinda bunches up around my ankle, but if I get the heel down where it needs to be from the beginning, it doesn't budge all day. That's thanks to my snug, well-fitting approach shoes.

My daughter introduced me to Smart Wool socks. She wore them on the Inca Trail and loved them. With no laundry available in the high Andes so there was no question of washing them out each night. But they can be worn repeatedly with NO odor! I love the fit and feel of these socks. I have ultralite, medium and heavy weight and love them all.

  • Question “what makes it a second sock”
Asked on 3/15/2012 12:00:00 AM by Anonymous from Unknown
    • Answer 2nds are items with barely perceptible blemishes or slight irregularities that do not affect fit, performance or longevity such as an error in the stitching or a slight fading of the product’s color. Labels on 2nds are usually clipped or marked by the manufacturer, and 2nds are often offered at lower prices.
