I do not ski, so I can't attest to how the socks feel in ski boots. I use the socks for general winter hiking with the dog. I am 5'8" tall, approximately 155 lbs. and have size 10.5 feet. The size Large fit perfectly. So far, the socks have not drooped on my legs and no bunching around the ankle...

These SmartWool socks stay up without being too tight - great for those of us with athletic calves. The light cushion seems similar to the medium cushioned socks without being too flat. Best use is to help prevent your ski / snow boots or ice skates from being too snug. I recommend these socks for all winter sports or just to keep your feet warm by the fireplace.
I would recommend a sock meant for high aerobic activities like the SmartWool PhD Light Ski Sock. Here is a link,http://www.sierratradingpost.com/smartwool-phd-light-ski-socks-merino-wool-for-men-and-women~p~1943y/?filterString=search~smartwool-socks-women-%2F&colorFamily=10
