This sock is super comfortable, thick and plush. I love that the top is not too tight, so I don't have sock ridges, yet is stays up well. This is a great value. I'll buy more. A big plus for me is that it's made in America.

The two pairs I have seem to run a full size bigger than all of my other SmartWool socks (all marked Large). Since these socks have more padding they take longer to dry out - not ideal for backpacking, especially during the colder months. Drying issues aside, the socks performed very well during my trip. I'll probably use these as camp socks in the future, they're super comfy when dry.

Nice socks, taller than most Smartwool crew socks, which I like. Medium weight looped padding in the sole only. Will make great boot socks and for short hikes, but wouldn't use these for packpacking, would like more cushion in the foot for that. Would buy again.

i was not very pleased with these socks. they were stamped with 'irregular' when i received them and i can see why. the position of the heel cushioning is off and they slip down off of your calf. i wanted them for fall/winter hiking, but i think the slipping would drive me nuts on a hike.
    • Best Uses: Wearing around the house
    • Cons: Poor fit irregular
    • Pros: Warm
