Verified Buyer Reviewed by "Slow but Sure" runner girl from Wisconsin on Wednesday, November 4, 2015Love it! I am a runner and run through all seasons. The wool layer next to my skin keeps me warm in the coldest temperatures and I'm talking below zero on some winter days. I particularly like the half zip with snug fitting hood and thumb holes. Yes! SmartWool thought of every feature to keep one warm. It washes and wears nicely. It can be thrown in the dryer but I prefer to hang it up to dry. I wore my last one out. So glad I found another.
Reviewed by Durango45 from colorado on Wednesday, March 13, 2013sadly this one is going back. It is a bit heavier in weight than I anticipated and won't work for backpacking
great shirt though
Verified Buyer Reviewed by winter enthusiast from Midwest on Wednesday, February 13, 2013I love the Smartwool NTS midweight base layer for winter layering under polartec power stretch pants, a lightweight merino zipneck and fleece jacket. It's 100% wool, warm, light enough to breathe and close fitting-not bulky. It washes well and can even be machine dried without shrinking. I can add my down jacket over it all and stay toasty on winter walks and expeditions, and the it keeps me comfortable in the house as we keep the thermostat low. I previously ordered the zipnecks from STP, (a great deal but had to size up from here for some reason) and they are getting a lot of use, so thought this would be a good addition. While I love the thumbholes, the hood was not really roomy enough to be useful, so returned it and went for the smartwool funnel zipneck instead. I think the close fit of the hood would be good for an winter climber under a helmet, or a speed skater, but it was not useful for me walking as I wear a wool hat, (no hood on down jacket) and it looked funny up and got in the way down.
