This base layer is a195 weight merino wool, a pleasant surprise for me as my other base layers from Smartwool are a 150 weight. A little more density feels really good in cooler weather. I ordered a small which fits perfect on my 5'5", 108lb frame. The vibrant blue is very attractive, crew neck and seam trim on the forearms and waist area add nice contour appeal. I've had some fabric hole issues with the lighter weight base layers but not with the mid weight 250 so how this does remains TBD. Washed up well, hang dry. Very happy with product and Sierra delivery.

I've never owned any merino smart wool, moisture wicking clothes before but had to get some for my Machu Picchu 4d/3n trek coming up. I tried them on as soon as I received them and loved the feel of it right away. I didn't want to take them off! I plan to sleep in the long sleeves as the nights will be cold but got some short sleeve for the actual hike. I'm gonna need the odor control with 4 days of no shower and a high sweat activity!

Nice Smartwool quality and looks sharp, long sleeves. Look closely at pic though, and note the seems, halfway up forearm and on sides, fabric is slightly different and sewn in with seams, as a very-close fitting underlayer, I found the seams to be annoying and returned this for the midweight which has consistent material throughout. But the it does look sharp, and if you are ordering a size up for more looseness/ less formfitting underlayer style, its probably not an issue. I do love Smartwool quality and feel.

Love this top. Doesn't itch and is warm without being heavy or bulky. Like the length in the arms and torso too. I normally wear a medium (8) but ordered up a size based on reviews. Glad I did. Large fit is comfortable and not too loose to be a good base layer.

I have worn various brands of merino sweaters for years. This year I purchased 8 pieces of the Smartwool; 2 pairs of lightweight and 1 pair of midweight longies. Also 3 lightweight long sleeve tops and 2 midweight tops. Oh - and several pairs of SmartWool socks.I wear this soft warm merino wool almost daily. It is my go-to fabric. It just works for me. Yes, I'm mad for SmartWool merino
products. Sorry, can't come up with negatives. I should work for SmartWool.
