It is as comfortable as cotton feels on the skin. As designed, not a stand-alone product for very cold weather but definitely an essential part of layering in cold weather.

I was looking for something more form-fitting and even though I thought the picture showed a form fitting baselayer, it is much looser fitting similar to regular long-sleeved clothes. The sleeves were the right length for me in a large, so I couldn't really size down to get a tighter fit without losing the sleeve length. Returned and will keep using Craft & CW-X baselayers that I have that are more form fitting.

Reviewed by Nate from Idaho on Friday, April 05, 2013For firefighting we can only use natural materials for under layers, due to synthetics when exposed to intense heat and/or flame will shrink and or burn to the skin. Since wool is the best material that I've found it's only fitting to choose this material. And smart wool is one of the best out there.

However, this lightweight base layer top feel much better in this time of the year in Northern California. When sun is high up, this cloth feel better than any other cotton top. Without a jacket, this is holding up for spring time weather well. The fabric is softer than thicker ones, no itch as expected. Overall, I am happy with this base layer, and will buy more when other style become available and with good deal coupon.
